Introduction:

  1. *Sura 59:23-24 – Muslim Claim
    1. There is no god but Allah.
    2. Sovereign, Holy, Peace-Giver, Faith-Giver, Overseer, Almighty, etc…
    3. Shahadah: “There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is His messenger.”
  2. Isaiah 40:28-31 – Christian Claim
    1. The God of the Bible (Jehovah) is the Lord everlasting.
    2. Everlasting God, Creator of the ends of the earth, etc…
    3. There are no other gods besides Jehovah. (Ephesians 4:6)
  3. Which claim is valid?

The Bible or The Qur’an:

  1. Ephesians 4:4-6
    1. Many commonalities exist between Islam and Christianity.
    2. Believe in one God, one faith, a Word of God, Heaven and Hell, Jesus, etc…
    3. These commonalities are not a coincidence.
  2. *Sura 3:3-4; 29:46-47; 40:53
    1. Muhammad believed in the Bible.
    2. The Qur’an teaches that the Torah & the Gospel are from God (Allah).
    3. Most Muslim’s say that the Bible has been corrupted. (*Sura 2:75, 79)
  3.  Timeline of Bible & Qur’an
    1. Posses copies of every Bible book (230 manuscripts in all) from before Muhammad’s time.
    2. If the Bible was accepted by Muhammad in his time, it must be accepted by all Muslims in our time.
  4. Galatians 1:6-9
    1. Islam is based on teachings given to Muhammad by the angel Gabriel.
    2. If the Bible came before Islam. Could this be what happened?
  5. Scientific Inaccuracies in Qur’an
    1. Qur’an mentions 11 planets. There are only eight. (*Sura 12:4)
    2. Pieces of the sky falling. (*Sura 52:44)
    3. Sun orbits the Earth. (*Sura 21:33, 91:1-2)
    4. The Moon has split. (*Sura 54:1)
  6. Has the Qur’an been altered? (*Sura 2:106)
    1. Qur’an admits to changes when a “better” or “similar” verse is desired.
    2. The direction of prayer changed from Jerusalem to Mecca. (*Sura 2:125, 142)
      1. Due to the Christian’s rejection of Islam in the early days.
      2. Out of a growing disdain for Christianity, the direction was changed.
    3. Love for polytheists in the early days turned to hatred later on. (*Sura 2:62; 3:110-112)
    4. Originally many versions of the Qur’an (Medina, Mecca, Basra, Damascus, and Kufa) before Uthman (580-656) ordered all versions destroyed except the version from Medina.
  7. Satanic Verses (*Sura 53:19)
    1. A book written about Muhammad’s moment of weakness; where he allowed the worship of his daughters.
    2. Written in 1988 by Ahmed Salman Rushdie.
    3. The scriptures were retracted and replaced.
    4. Rushdie’s assassination was ordered. He survived and was knighted by the Queen in 2007.

Jesus or Muhammad:

  1. The Prophet (*Sura 7:157-158)
    1. Deuteronomy 18:15-19
      1. Muslim’s claim that this scripture is a reference to Muhammad.
      2. …from among their brothers.” = Jews (Deuteronomy 17:15)
      3. Muhammad was not a Jew. Idea is offensive to Muslims.
    2. Acts 3:19-23
      1. Jesus was The Prophet.
      2. Jesus is actually mentioned in the Qur’an more than Muhammad. (*Sura 57:27)
  2. Was Muhammad Perfect?
    1. Married 16 wives. (Nine mentioned in Qur’an.) Only allowed four. (*Sura 4:3)
    2. Letter to Julanda Brothers of Oman. (*Sura 2:256)
    3. He is told to seek forgiveness for his sin. (*Sura 47:19)

Conclusion: Acts 4:8-12

  1. Salvation can only be found in Jesus.
  2. Make a decision to study the Bible to learn more about Jesus.
  3. After all, even Muhammad believed it was true.
