“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” — Philippians 4:4
Explanation: Rejoicing is not a feeling. We can feel happy and we can feel sad, but we can’t feel “rejoice”. Rejoicing is a choice we need to make regardless of how we feel. How often should we choose to rejoice? The Bible says we should “rejoice in the Lord always.”
Discussion: What are some things that make you happy? What are some things that make you sad? Is it hard to be happy when you feel sad?
Activity: Blow up a variety of balloons. Draw happy faces on some of them, and sad faces on the others. Have your kids pop the balloons with the sad faces, but not the happy faces. Show them how important it is to only have “happy faces”!
